Candidly Canon

Canon-NY-638x280

On assignment, here in Midtown New York, I am soon to join Canon as they open their Canon EXPO 2010 New York for a sneak peek behind the curtain of some of reportedly, big news surrounding imaging. Canon appears to have spared no expense, and I know many in the dealer community are excited as well; just last week I talked with one dealer who awarded a ticket to this event to their highest performing sales team member. As for me, I am excited to have an opportunity to speak with Canon executives first hand to learn more about their vision for Canon’s place in the imaging world.

While I’m not about hype, I’m certainly not above being impressed either. New York City is always bigger in person, which dispels a long held myth the camera adds 10 pounds. Obviously, Canon chose a huge venue for a reason, I’m sure. However, if you noticed the image accompanying this article, New York’s skyline is crowed from top-to-bottom and side-to-side.

While beautiful in its own right, each advertisement, rooftop, and even building window compete for your ocular attention here in Midtown New York, just above Broadway. It certainly is a site to behold and you can feel the energy of a city that is alive. This landscape is much like the landscape each of us in this industry inhabits – alive and teaming with competition, colleagues and customers.

At times it surely seems there is often too much chatter, vying for your occipital attention. For me, it’s off to enjoy some time with folks I’ve not had the pleasure to meet. As for you – well – stay tuned as I seek to provide you, our valued readers, keen insights and help you avoid being swept away in the hype.
