Toshiba Helping the Helpers

Let’s face it; the global economy, apart from BRIC powerhouses, has struggled, stumbling from one crisis to the next. While tighter profit margins and cost-cutting measures have created opportunity in the MPS industry, the tumultuous economic environment has wreaked havoc on charities and non-profit organizations, which saw donations evaporate in the face of record unemployment and economic contraction.
Although charitable giving was again on the rise in 2011, non-profits, much like their for-profit counterparts, have had to operate smarter and more efficiently in order to maximize services with limited resources. Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS) is responding to non-profit needs by announcing a plan to roll out a national technology makeover contest to benefit U.S. nonprofit charity organizations. Toshiba Helping the Helpers program will provide five charities with a prize package worth up to $30,000 and a grand prize package up to $100,000.
The winners will be chosen from video submissions to the Toshiba For Good corporate social responsibility Facebook page. From the chosen five, the general public will select one organization to receive a grand prize, which will provide the winner with a Toshiba Encompass Analysis, color and B&W MFPs, business telephone system, desktop and laptop computers, HDTVs and a camcorder, in addition to support from TABS to help the organization reduce operational costs by printing smarter, working safer and reducing waste.
Part of Toshiba’s corporate social responsibility initiative, the Helping the Helpers program is a winner on all fronts. For Toshiba, the program will display the efficiency of their solutions within the largely untapped non-profit vertical and it never hurts to have hundreds of people visiting your Facebook page. So far 301 Facebook users have already liked the page and 154 users are talking about it. While the winning organizations will obviously reap rewards, the true beneficiaries will be those who receive services which otherwise might not have been offered.
