Trends that will drive MPS in 2012

Economic woes will help drive customer behaviour to be open minded around change to access cost savings. This is an enabler given MPS’s key proposition is cost savings.

The OEMs who have a far larger fixed cost base will continue to mange their cost base and this should help push more for UCS on channel partners in the independant space as opposed to their direct sales operations. This is also an growth enabler for independants.

The market continues to confuse customers with a broad range of definitions around MPS, there is still significant adoption to be embraced certainly by mid-market customers. Customer understanding will continue to grow and increasingly differentiate between MPS ‘pretenders’ and those offering a truly deep MPS customer experience.

As the OEMs push to become services, solutions, IT and BPO companies the push into the channel will continue, but will continually contradict when theory hits reality and they demand ever increasing hardware and aftersales spend from channel partners.
